What's the longest engagement that you've heard of?

My niece's engagement is 16 months. She's not getting married until December 2011.

  • My Momma's friend was engaged bout 20yrs. She said she was in no hurry. She had been married before.

  • Well with my ex we were engaged for six years. Ended horribly too :) but I met my husband and married him six months later if that lol

  • 17 years... not sure why they even called it "engaged" because he really didn't want to marry her and she always had her feelings hurt about it.

    I was engaged for 5 and it ended. What I learned from the experience is that people who want to get married DO. If you are putting a ton of excuses in front of something it is because it doesn't feel right.

  • My mom's. She's been with her SO for about 12 years now. I guess I would say mine is next. Engaged for almost 7 years.
