Do your kids eat Cafeteria Food or a Packed Lunch?

Besides the Money aspect. You do not get much for the money. And the fact that one of my boys is very picky. My boys rarely, if ever, eat from the school cafeteria. I pack lunches everyday..... Do you? What do you pacl?

  • She eats free breakfast and lunch at school. If I had to pay full price I'd probably split it up.

  • THey eat breakfast and lunch at school. Our school actually has really good choices for the kids.

  • My kids do both. If they don't like something the school is serving then they pack. My 5 year old packed today, she took a bologna and cheese sandwich, go-gurt, and applesauce. My oldest takes tuna sandwich when she packs. We freeze the go-gurts and my kids love them.

  • Our son's school does not have the hot lunch option. So bagged lunch everyday for him. I pack ham and cheese or PBJ sandwiches, some times black bean quesadillas, sometimes left overs. He always has to veg/fruit items and usually a second protein item, like ham roll ups or peanut butter to dip his carrots in.
I generally do not send treats because he won't eat his other food.

  • My son takes a bagged lunch because he's so picky. He just started third grade so I'm thinking of having him try the hot lunch once in a while.

  • My son always takes a bagged lunch. Usually it is some kind of sandwich, chips, fruit and a sweet treat. I pack either Capri-Suns, or Sunny Delights for his drink.

  • My kids eat at school. They get reduced lunch prices, and they have healthy options available including a fresh fruit/salad bar. Also, if they don't like any of the choices offered that day and aren't in the mood for a salad, they have pb&j's available all the time.

  • Mine eat hot lunch at school. My kids schools offer a variety of choices so I know my kids will find something they like, and the cost is decent-- $1.90/day.

  • We don't have a cafeteria, so I pack lunches. We have a caterer who works on campus and she offers a pre-set menu: Monday is pizza, Tues is bagels, etc. The older kids order 2 lunches a week. And i work for her, so I know what goes into the food. My youngest is too picky, which is fine by me.
