  • Good question though, here's a bump.

Maybe they're just getting wiser with age, therefore becoming more conservative. :)~

  • People become more capable of critical thinking and evaluation. They become more realistic and less idealistic. Wisdom, in large part, does come with age ...

  • I think it depends on the person and their own lives. I have gotten much more liberal as I've gotten older.

  • Eh, maybe some people, but there are others that go in an entirely different direction.

  • I think that the general public becomes more liberal as time goes on. People don't grow "more conservative" IMO - it's just times change and people's morals don't. Hope that makes sense, haha.

  • I think as your circumstances and experiences change so do your views on politics and such.

I have always been socially liberal but have been progressively more politically conservative (still moderate) as the govt continues to take more and more of my income. When I was younger and paid almost no taxes I did not pay too much attention to size/spending of govt. Now that my tax burden is over $40k/year I am more keenly aware of the waste associated with big government and what I consider a nanny type government. As far as social issues-I am still liberal on those-pro-choice, support gay marriage and the like.

  • I don't know about more conservative, but they do become more set in their ways and more outspoken about their opinions.

  • I've become more Liberal (I do have SOME Conservative qualities, but they are minor in comparison). I was alot like my parents when I was a kid, followed in their beliefs, but once I began to understand the issues a little better, not so much.

  • Dunno. My parents remained dyed in the wool Democrats all their lives, and simply made it a point NEVER to discuss politics with friends.

I actually think my dad was more conservative when I was younger, at least as pertains to social issues. I have a feeling that observing me and my brother making our way through the modern world made him see things a little differently.

  • To a certain extent yes especially in my case. i was young and idealistic. Some things are great in theory but unrealistic in application.
