Is it good to have 2 brothers - 2 years apart- share a room?

We recently moved into a house with more space and have the room for them to have separate rooms, but heard that it was good for them. They are 4 and 6 and play together a lot, but when they start fighting, the big one runs off saying he hates having a little brother.

  • My sons are 3 years apart and at first they had the same room. But as time went on his little brother was breaking his toys and always fighting about it.I did everything to help but he was a little brother. So it maybe good if you are able to give them the space but keep 2 beds so they can sleep together when they want and are lonely. My boys are 31 and 28 and still complain about each other to me when they have a problem. But they do love each other very much and are helping each other out all the time.Brothers will be brothers.Expect a lot of wrestling and fighting as they grow up.

  • My boys had separate rooms until they were 10 and 11, then my third son was born. My teens are 16 & 17 and continue to share a room and have bunk beds...LOL... they still fight like cats and dogs!

  • My sisters and I used to share a room, until my dad built on a room for an office, and I think we fought more when we didn't share a room lol, so I think they'll fight whether or not they share a room. :-)

  • If you have the room, I would give them separate bedrooms. They can play together when they are getting along, and go their separate ways when things get dicey. Kids need their own space.

  • I think it is good. Some of my best memories from childhood came from our late night chats and shenanigans. My sis and I are 20 months apart.
