Can you use a regular thermometer to check a dogs temp?

I think my Daisy is in labor and vet said to check her temp! Forgot to ask him and I can't get a hold of him! And I promise I won't reuse it as a people thermometer! haha!

  • Take her temperature rectally. Yes you can use a human thermometer. They all work the same way.

  • I think you should go to ask.com or google it. Did the doctor tell you what her temp should be around ? I think you should google or ask.com it. You can use a regular one but you need to know what it should be around to see if she is ready for her puppy to come.

  • Your dog's normal rectal temperature is 100.5 to 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Higher temperatures may necessitate a trip to your veterinarian, depending on other symptoms.
