Which sitter would you pick for your child?

How would you peak a sitter for your child? I spoke by phone with 4 people, they all seem nice. I am going to meet them personally and asked to bring their references. But really, I am not sure, beyond listen to my guts how to do it.

(1) Spanish-speaking, recently moved to the area, 31 years old- no children, seems not to work currently.
(2) American (Polish) working for other family, claims to have great references, does not sound too committed
(3) American, child care teacher, works until 4 with children every day- 25 years old, college student
(4) Single, American, no kids, 31, I am not sure about her.

So what would you do or suggest?

unless it's a once in a while teenager kind of thing, I want the person taking care of my kid to have their own kids so I know they have real life experience

  • Ethnicity would have nothing to do with my pick. We don't hold patent on raising good kids. It would simply be a matter of qualifications and experience.. which would be #3.

  • # 3...

she seems the only one with experience that you feel more comfortable with out of 2 and 3..

dumb 1 and 4 if I were you and focus on 2 and 3. after a face to face interview.. have them interact with your children as well to see how they respond around and with your children..
