Fetal heart rate

I have my baby's heart rate checked with doppler the last three weeks due to anxiety. The first one was 140, then 145, and today it was 138. I was very nervous all three time they took the heart rates. Could they have gotten my heart rate instead?

  • No,if that was yours you'd have been able to feel your heart beating out of your chest! Normal for an adult is 60-75 beats per minute!

  • Had a missed miscarriage at 6 1/2 weeks in Feb. Absolutely paranoid about losing this one.

  • Anything above 120 after so many weeks is good.

I'm 27w5d pregnant and at 6w2d heartrate was 115bpm (fine for that early), then at 9w4d it was 174bpm, then at 12w4d it was 160bpm, somewhere between there and my 20wk u/s the doppler read his heartbeat at 138bpm. The u/s at 20w3d was back up to 160bpm and has been there ever since. Some variation is completely normal because baby may be resting, sleeping, swimming all over the place. lol

I know what you are going through though this is my 4th pregnancy and only my 2nd successful one. I had two miscarriages at 8w4d between my 3┬Żyr old and this baby. I understand the paranoia, but I can give you a piece of advice stressing will only make everything worse. That is probably part of why I lost 7lbs to begin with and at 27w5d I have only gained a total of 10lbs(which is actually only 3lbs more than where I started).

Oh also all 3 of my friend's girls had heartrates in that range.

  • Those are all in the normal range. When you are late in pregnancy, the average will drop as your baby grows. My daughter had been steady in the 150's until I hit 30 weeks and now she's staying in the 130's.

  • why didnt you talk to your doc while you were there? Seem s dumb! Normal heart rate is between 135 and 165. Really? You were right there with the doc!!!!!!! WOW
