  • It depends on the symptom the person is experiencing. If the patient is in real danger of imminent harm to herself or others, or if she is experiencing psychotic symptoms, or if she is neglecting/abusing the kids because of her depression, I could see child services getting involved - but then it would really be for the best as far as the children go.
If it's just bad depression and the kids are not at risk, then no, they wouldn't get taken away.

  • There are different types of depression and they're all treated differently. And no, it does not mean they automatically take your children. As a matter of fact, that would be highly unlikely unless they found that you were at serious risk of harming yourself or harming your children.

  • the refer you to a counselor and or give you anti-depressants. Really depends on who your physician is.

  • NO. Most likely the doctor would put the person on anti-depressants.

There are a lot of people afflicted with depression. Postpartum blues are also very common.

  • Like a previous poster said, there are different types of depression. The physician would likely order blood tests to check for a chemical imbalance, and may make a recommendation for a mental health assessment to learn more about your symptoms.

  • NO, THEY WOULD SEND YOU TO A PSYCHIATRIST( WHICH YOU NEED TO GET THE MEDS) AND HAVE YOU PUT ON MEDICINES. IFSHE WERE SO BAD AND COULDN'T HANDLE THE KIDS, , OR HERSELF AND EVERYDAY LIFE, THEN IT MAY BE AN OPTION, BUT NOT JUST BEC SHE'S DEPRESSED. THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE MORE DEPRESSED THAN OTHERS, A LOT OF THINGS HAVE TO GO INTO THE SITUATIONS IN THEIR LIVES PREVIOUSLY, OR NOW. SO IF IT'S YOU, DON'T DEPRESS YOURSELF MORE THINKING ABOUT THAT, GET A DR. AND GET HELP.
