  • Our kids can't have one on one dates until Highschool. But I have never seen Group Dates as real Dates, so those are okay through middle school... But I figure if they are old enough for Highschool they are old enough to date.

  • i had my first "boyfriend" at 12. we would hang out at friends houses, school events, our parents would drop us off at the mall, etc. - it was cute, no sex or anything like that. i had my first real relationship at 16.
so yeah it depends on the type of dating.

  • We are going to let our kids go on group outings (not dates) starting at age 14. At age 16 they will be allowed double dates (that way they have a safety net it anything goes wrong). And they can go on single dates at 18.

  • I think it depends on the maturity of your child and the "type" of date. Going to the movies on a Sat afternoon for a responsible daughter - we let her go at 14. Going out the movies on a Sat night, she went at 16.

  • 16 is a good age to start.

I agree that it depends on maturity levels but you have to also consider the maturity levels of other parties also attending this date.

  • Some of it depends on the maturity level of the teens involved, but it is generally not a good idea to be going on one on one dates younger than 15/16.
