i feel like the worst parent ever. we can't afford to pay for our daughter's preschool.

my daughter has been going to preschool for two weeks. i originally wanted her to go to vpk only, cause it was free. but my husband wanted her there for a full day, thinking that i could possibly find a job soon enough to pay for her school, a full day there is $365 a month. i've been looking for a job for 2 months and i can't find one. i got pregnant when i was a senior, and went from being in school, to stay at home mom. i have no work experience, so that's why no one will hire me. there is an assistance program called school readiness, that lowers the cost of the tuition, but we don't qualify cause both parents have to be working. i told my daughter today that she might not be going to school anymore, and shes been crying for over an hour about it,she made friends already and wants to see them everyday. i feel so bad. we live in florida, does anyone know of any other school assistance programs i can look up?

  • Start looking at all the fast food places. They hire just about anyone. And brush up on your interview skills. Confidence gets your foot in the door when it comes to getting a job.

  • Ask the school there may be aid programs they have or they may lower the cost if you do volunteer work.

  • Why not just let her stay for the VPK only instead of full time?

  • That's ok she will forgive you. Can she still go to vpk? You need to try an get back in school. Do you have a jr college near you? The one near us has daycare for students. You sound like you can easily get financial aid .

  • Sorry... If you are in a home, you could consider doing daycare. It is a very unique job. You can get a county licensure and they help provide everything you need to get set up. The great thing is you make your schedule and your daughter will always have other kids to play with. It can be challenging at times but so can any job.......
