Just trying to understand

Many claim the Bible condemns homosexuality. In particular they used verses in 1 Cor. and 1 Tim. to do this. Yet the word in Greek for male on male sex is paiderasste/παιδερασστε and it is not found anywhere in the Bible. Paul actually made up a word rather than use this word. Why?

I know many of you think I am just trying to bash Christianity but I'm not. I'm just trying to understand.

  • Good luck! I have found that if you take a sentence out of almost any book you can twist the meaning to whatever you want.

  • How can one purport to explain the completely illogical? Put another way, one can't apply logic to what is basically an emotional decision by a pile of probable self-loathing closet cases.

  • I copied and pasted from a website that has the entire NT in Greek (but I will admit to double checking it against the Greek NT I have here at home).

omg, i'm so tired of this 'logic'...i passionately feel pedophilia is wrong..does that mean i'm a closet-pedophile?? that argument/idea doesn't wash, sorry.
and btw..i don't care what anyone else does/believes..i just know what is right/wrong for me. so no, i'm not a 'self-loathing closet-case.'

  • Piper, ancient Greek. Ancient Greek is VERY different than modern Greek. I guess I should've specified that.
