I always make either too much food or not enough, how does this sound?

Tomorrow I am having 6 adults and 6 children ages 2-12, here is the menu:

mango salsa and chips
home made hummus and pita chips
and someone is brining a veggie tray

baked honey chicken
curry rice
baked ziti
Italian bread
green salad

fruit pizza (someone is bringing)
and I'll pick up something else.

Too much?

  • My mom taught me to always make too much food when you are having guests.....too much is always better than not enough, and you can always eat the leftovers or send home with guests...

  • It sounds like I need to come over to your house. :)
In seriousness, I think it might be a little bit too much - but, I have no idea how much the adults/kids will eat. At least if it's too much, you can send people home with leftovers! It's better to have too much than too little, I think.

  • I think that sounds pretty good! Maybe another dessert or something.

  • I agree, send home some of the left overs or freeze them. The reason you can't find a happy medium is because you are dealing with adults and children. Just remember that if you have more than one main entree, don't cook each for the amount of people you have, cook it for less. The reason is that they will have a little of everything, not a full serving. I did a banquet for 125 once and people thought I was nuts because I wasn't cook crap loads of each entree... as it turned out, I had cooked enough because it is true, peeps came through the line and tried a little of everything! :)
