4 month old sick?? Help!

My 4 month old has never been sick... and I think he finally caught a bug of some sort and I have no idea what to do. He's coughing and spitting up everything he takes in... So he obviously has been wanting to constantly nurse because his belly keeps getting emptied. I gave him some tylenol to curb any oncoming fever... what else do I do???

  • Call your pediatrician! Babies are extremely susceptible to dehydration, and if he can't keep any milk down, then there's a good chance he will get dehydrated. Also, I remember when my dd got sick the nurse said that if she started coughing to bring her in immediately because that's not considered normal for infants.

  • Defintatley cold and flu season. The coughing, sneezing and nose running would just be a cold, but spitting up everything, does not sound good, unless he is coughing so hard that he is throwing up??? Under 6 months, I would get it checked out. You would hate to have an ear infection etc that you did not know about... good luck!

  • I agree with with pedialyte to stop dehydration for 24 hours and if he has a fever at some point, put him in luke warm water that should bring a fever down inbtween tylenol doses.
