  • Way too many to count! I got nearly 40 of them in only an hour once. :-( And that was with a can of bug repellent sprayed all over me. I have no tips on prevention. But if you get them, I am great at soothing them. I just put ice on them. It numbs the bite, lessens the swelling and takes away the itch for a while. It works better than the pink calamine stuff, than anti itch cream, better than most stuff I've tried. I'm a total bug magnet so I know my bite relief :-)

  • Bactine or Sarna work very well for bug bites. Taking garlic pills everyday can help prevent insect bites.

  • Oh, I get them. To avoid I use Off! - the 45% deet variety. To soothe, I use Caladryl lotion.

  • Yeaaa. They were bad this year..I got at least 3-4 on my left foot alone. :(
Aloe vera gel helps soothes them.

  • No.... it seemed to be just too hot for them.... or it could be that I grow stuff in my herb garden around my patio that they just don't like.

  • I didn't get any this year that I recall. Black flies are another issue.... but benadryl gel works wonders for soothing bites. I use it on my son whenever he gets a bite. I need to locate it for me now...poison oak rots.

  • WE live in Texas where everyone says the mosquitoes ar prolific. But, our family doesn't seem to be bothered by them. Nobody gets bitten around my house. Not sure why.
