did she just spray my husband!?

We got a kitten a few weeks ago. She's about 3 months old. While I was cuddling on the couch with my hubby she kept trying to butt in between us. After that, she put her butt against his neck and next thing I know, his neck stinks. Did she spray him and if so, why. If not, what did she do?

PS: I'm a first time cat owner

  • No, she didn't spray on him. It's possible that she had just gotten out of the kitty box though, and hadn't cleaned herself, so she rubbed against him, and made him smell. Tell him to wash his neck, and he will be fine.

  • Or straight out peed on him. Now cats and dogs do have glands on the right near their butt holes that give off a sent of sorts. I have no idea when it begins producing, but she could have rub that on him, or just needs to go have them expressed. Most groomers do it.

  • LOL..if she did..I'm sorry but that is FUNNYYYYYY!!!!!!! hehehe :)
Cats are insane,lol..the best pets ever but insane.
Typically, male cats are the ones who spray.
But its not unheard of for females. I've never had one that went into heat soon than 6 months old.
So I doubt that she sprayed his neck. But cat butts are very stinky...she could have left her stink on his neck.
I would advice him to go take a shower asap, LMBO!!!

  • Yes, females can give off a scent.. it's not spraying per say the way that males do it, but if she rubbed her butt on him, chances are she's marking him.

You asked why.. it's because she is marking him as hers.

  • Hehe she's saying, "look lady you see me? You see him? He's mine." lol

Or she may just left the kitty box without cleaning her little bum very well and being a kitten and crawling all over accidentally rubbed her stinky lil bum on his neck.
