Black Salt?

I'm having some trouble finding information on this. From what I understand Black Salt is used for driving away negativity... But I can't really find any information on it. I've run searches, tried looking up everything I can, and just can't seem to find more than the same article copied on to 5 different sites...

Can anyone give me some resources for this? Information, sites? Anything??

  • are you trying to buy it?
everything i see just says its an indian mineral salt.. doesnt say too much more.
try using aolsearch.com or bing.com, those are my two favorite search engines and i get different websites on each when i search for something.

  • Black salt is traditionally used to drive away evil, and can be sprinkled in the footsteps of a person who is annoying you to make them go away.

Here's my basic recipe for black salt:

2 parts sea salt (which is the same as kosher salt)
1 part scrapings from a cast iron skillet or pot OR
1 part fine ash from your fire pit OR
1 part finely ground black pepper

  • No, I don't want to buy it, I have a recipe for it... But I would like to learn more about it... History & Origin, How to use, When to use & make... And whatever else I can find. From what I found it's from the HooDoo tradition. But I can't seem to find information, just places that sell it - which I don't need!

  • Look up Gullah culture and you might find some info there. They were well versed in hoodoo and voodoo.

  • Most witches uses sea salt (as opposed to mined salt) to bless items for their altars and to clear negativity from the area. Never heard of black salt. Maybe someone else knows. Black is considered a protective color in wiccan beliefs.
