what otc meds to avoid if I am breastfeeding

i have a cold and I dont know if I should take otc meds

  • I know that you can take regular sudafed....none of the fancy things added to it though. Robuttussin (sp) cough syrup (plain) and Tylenol! I am not sure what else though....I just finished nursing my son afetr a year but luckly I only got sick once!!! Good luck!

  • Most things that are OTC are relatively safe. Just ask your pharmacist. He/she should know.

  • Avoid anything with pseudoephedrine in it as it can sometimes decrease supply. This is the active ingredient in regular Sudafed, the stuff that is now kept behind the counter.
