What is the going rate for babysitters?

My daughter has never been left with anyone other then family before and I am not sure what to pay. Anyone know what the going rate for a babysitter is?

  • age and experience aside around min wage.... i am cpr certified and have other certifications and loads of experience so i usually got between 12 to 15 an hour. i also worked with disabled children so that ive been paid almost 20 an hour.... i say a teenager from your hood would be happy with 7 to 8 an hour

  • We only use a sitter when we are going out for a date or to do something with friends. The teen girl who watches my son is wonderful and we pay her 8 an hour. In Cali we paid 10 an hour. For full time daycare in our area it runs 190-250 a week.
