How often can skunks spray?

I smell one.. but i want to know how long i have to let my dog out before it sprays again

they will move on ,the skunk was scared at the time it sprayed. so it will not stick around.

We live in the middle of nowhere and get skunks passing thru all the time. They do not have to spray for you to be able to smell them. They naturally smell VERY strong all the time. As long as its been 15-20 mins since you first smelled it you should be fine (at least that is how long I wait before putting the dogs out again)-the skunk has probably moved on. They usually just wonder thru and keep moving.
