Rate poem #2

I remember those days..
Those days as a child.
When nothing really mattered..
Pure happiness, my face plastered with a smile.

Oh, to be young again.
With not a care in the world.
If only that were possible..
Id be a completely different girl.

But, I know I will never get the chance.
& That I must live with my mistakes.
Even if it costs me that smile..
Even if it makes me feel fake.

Bitterness will do me no good.
As I am sick of feeling that way.
I will try to hold my head high,
I will try to make you want to stay.

The World stands on my shoulders.
It does not lie, it does not rest.
The world has brought me to this place..
& I cannot change what I am, none the less.

& When I get the chance..
I sit and I reminisce.
Happiness at first glance.
Pain deep within the abyss.

  • That is a very nice poem, but it speaks of great pain you carry. I had a very bad childhood and went from that into a marriage that was very abusive for 17 years. I went to therapy and along with that and my faith in God it has helped me to deal with all the issues that trauma left me with. Hugs to you.
