How do you remove corrosion caused by batteries?

I have a musical toy that has been sitting for a while with the batteries in it. I opened it up today to check it, and found rust-like corrosion all over the negative side of both batteries, and on the battery coils. Is it irreperable... or can I clean the corrosion off and it work like new? Anyone know how?

  • A little bit of coke a cola on a toothbrush or rag...rub it until gone. Make sure you let it dry good before trying to use it again.
