Do you think there is no point in remembering names of characters if they are fictional?

  • If they can be remembered conveniently it is just as well, in case they are encountered again and it is assumed or hoped that they will be recognized. For example, everybody knows Scrooge, or Rip Van Winkle. They are part of the general knowledge of people who have read or heard certain fictional stories.

  • No point in remembering them if you don't care for them.

    I only remember certain ones because they are pleasant memories.
