  • While keeping them indoors can keep them safe I believe that genetics play more of a roll in how long they live. So far my indoor cats have not made it past 16 year of age. The cats that we had when I was growing up were indoor/outdoor and lived closer to 20 years.

  • We have had them as old as 15 and he was run over by the car--he was indoor/outdoor--growing up

    More recent--
We put one down at the age of 9 from a massive tumor
We put another down at the age of 8 from renal failure
We put another down at the age of 5 due to a kinked urethra.

We still have one that is 6 and we just adopted one that is between the age of 1 and 2.

  • My first cat, which was strictly indoors lived to be 15 1/2 years and had to be put down do to cancer in her kidneys. My second cat which was an indoor out door lived to be a year old and was eaten by an owl... I saw it happen and it was devastating, my new kitty which is a 1 old this October and strictly indoors.
