  • It's tomato-palooza around here. I pick about 5 lbs every other day. It is getting out of hand. I've made 2 batches of salsa (5 quarts each) and 5 quarts of pasta sauce and 5 pints of tomatillo salsa. Not to mention actually eating the tomatoes.

The eggplant and cukes have done nicely too.

The peppers didn't fare as well as last year.

  • We started our seeds kind of late. We bought the upsy downsy tomato planter from Wal Mart, but never used it. The tomatoes that came from the seeds were huge, beefsteak type and another type. There's no way it would have worked in an upside down planter. We had a variety of peppers and they are doing good. It was our first time growing vegetables and we were pleased to get edible foods. Our garden consisted of several wooden boxes.
