  • Anyone who preaches or teaches anything that contradicts the Bible. They usually have just enough of the truth to sound right, but what they say is full of deception.

  • A false teacher is one that goes against what is right-not just what is right in the Bible-but what is right as in our Universal Truths- love, understanding, charity, faith, strength-there are plenty on here that are not religious, do not quote the bible, but are indeed false teachers-they spread misinformation and intolerance.

  • As in christianity and islam, if they do anything that gets them deported, thrown in jail, or that starts a war, is the action of a false prophet. Anything that causes them and you to act against the entire human race, is false. Is wrong. It's not that hard to figure out, really.

  • I think that if you can understand the intentions of the person, you can understand their means. One way to know is through auras. If you can see them clearly around ppl then you can make better judgement of their character. If not, you can practice (link here)

  • If someone claims that Christ was not God ... they are false (1 John 4 states further).
If someone claims that works will get you to heaven ... they are false (Eph 2 states further)
If someone claims that there is more than one way to heaven ... they are false (John 14:6)
If someone claims that Christ teaching was primarily about being a good person, and not about repentance, they are false (Matt 11:20 and following)
If someone puts any other teaching above that of repentance from sin (the so-called "Prosperity Doctrine" and Seeker-sensitive movement does this) they are false.
And of course ... if someone worships a god that contradicts the character of the true and living God, they are false.

The more Truth you know, the easier it will be to see the false teachings. Immerse yourself in Scripture and learn from those who promote Christ's Truth, and you will not easily stumble from the false doctrines and teachers.

  • For example, new age teachings are false teachings & any one who teaches it is a false teacher...

  • I agree with the previous posters. However, sometimes it is difficult to tell if someone is a false teacher. It is important to study the Bible, have a good relationship with God, and try to have a great understanding of all that being "Christlike" entails. Then you will be better able to tell whether you're being lied to (intentionally or not).

  • Matthew 17:15 “Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they?
John 17:17 Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth.

Know what the Bible really teaches and you will be able to recognise false teachers.
