If God knows everything that is going to happen, then why did he flood the world knowing the same thing was going to happen?

As in, humans being more bad than good.

  • We have free will, God has nothing to do with how we choose to act. He gives us the choice to be good people, it is up to us to take that chance and be good people.

  • free will. why do you bother punishing your child for something when you know it's going to happen again? they have the choice to be good or bad, no matter what you tell them. if god forced his will on people, what would be the point of everything?

  • All of the gods in our mythologies seem to have this same problem. We humans are like roaches. You destroy us. You punish us. And we still survive and still follow our human natures. What's a deity to do? You know that there is something wrong with any idea that is impossible to believe...unless you have faith. It's a sure sign of that idea being a product of human imagination, not reality. The cruelty in creating mankind, knowing how they would turn out, and the devil, knowing how he would turn out, is beyond my own imagination. It is a viciousness BEYOND Jack the Ripper, Jeffrey Dahmer, David Koresh, or any of the other demented minds that humanity has spawned. To be a true heartless, souless bastard, you have to be a deity.

  • Free will answers nothing, so plese stop using that as a catch all excuse and actually answer the question! God has a plan for everyone, says he knows you because he knitted you together in your mother's womb, is all-knowing and all-powerful and yet you say he had no clue that because of sin, the world would become corrupt? Sure, you MAY have free will, but that free will only goes as far as making decisions down a path he always has planned for you and already knows the outcome of- so using that as an answer is totally asinine.

Either he knew ahead of time and didn't care or didn't know ahead of time and therefor is NOT all-knowing, not an all powerful 'supreme' deity, makes mistakes and used the flood to fix those mistakes.

  • he did flood the whole world. The part of the world may have, but not the entire planet. The people back then didn't know about the other parts of the world or even know the planet was round.

  • Free will is NOT a catch-all excuse. God allows us to make our own choices because He wants it to be our own doing when we come to Him and ask Him into our hearts. Yes- he knows WHAT you will choose, but you are still allowed to make those choices. I don't have all the answers, unfortunately. I just have faith that He is God, and He knows what He's doing.
