Every baby's growth is different. Most babies can say mama and dada at about a year old. While some babies may say their first word at 8-9 months, some do not until 15 to 18 months. Babies who delay in speech sometimes go through a sudden increase in words during the last part of the second year.
If your baby isn't saying mama or dada even after 18 months, you might want to check with your health practitioner.
