what age do babies usually say their first words?? my first daughter has speech problems so im kinda new.

  • Mine started saying mama and dada and bye bye (sounds like die die) at 7 months. She ONLY says mama when she is upset though. : (

  • Every baby's growth is different. Most babies can say mama and dada at about a year old. While some babies may say their first word at 8-9 months, some do not until 15 to 18 months. Babies who delay in speech sometimes go through a sudden increase in words during the last part of the second year.


    If your baby isn't saying mama or dada even after 18 months, you might want to check with your health practitioner.

  • My son is 7 months old and only screeches with an occasional babble. I don't truly know the answer to your question though.
