My son fell off the bed and about 20 min later he went down for a nap....

(fell asleep in my arms actually which NEVER happens) should i wake him up? or wake him up in a certain amount of time? He did not vomit or anything, but i forget protocol on a situation like this

  • Just watch him.... my son is 15 months and falls and hits his head daily.... make sure he is breathing and all that... kids are tough, I'm sure he wil be fine... just make sure he isn't acting weird... relax momma!

  • Does he have a bump or bruise from falling off the bed? Did he fall on carpet of a hard surface? Did he lose consciousness? Was he acting normal before he fell asleep? IF he didn't cry long and seemed to act normal till he fell asleep I'd figure he is ok. If you are unsure call the Pedis office and they will ask you some questions to determine if you should bring him in.

  • Is your bed more than 2 1/2 feet high? If not, it's not high enough to do damage. did he hit his head on an end table? if not and he fell on wood or carpet its not likely a problem. is your floor brick, clay, concrete, slate? if not, its not a concern.

Is there vomiting, neck pain, inconsolabe crying more than an hour, dilated pupils, unconscious, loss of balance/coordination, unresponsive? Then its not a worry.

Children are pretty resiliant and this is just one in a long line of falls. read this: - bumps and falls and head injuries

  • I would keep him awake. I do with my children after a bump on the head then after a certain period of time (say 5 hours) I wake them up ever 2 hours. Keep an eye.
