is the term "chicken" universal for both genders of the bird?

hens are girls
roosters are boys

So is chicken... both or the females?

  • Yes, Chicken is the species, not the title... Just like males and females of our species are all Human, even though we are men and women. Chicken is for both male & female...

  • Wow? A chicken is a species of bird. A hen and a rooster are sexual references to ANY type of bird. People don't use the reference that's all.
