CafeMom Team will be posting Baby Encyclopedia questions in the Babies Category from Tuesday till Friday of this week. For every question you answer, you'll be entered to win one of the $25 Gap Gift Cards that we're giving away each day!

But there's a catch... only "real" answers will be entered to win the $25 Gap Gift Card. If you do not have tested advice or an informed opinion on the topic, please wait to answer the next question. There will be plenty of opportunities to enter the contest.

  • Let nature takes it's course. Just bathe and wash the baby's face.

  • I got told to never touch it by my doc. It takes care of itself.

  • Baby acne is often misdiagnosed. A lot of people think any kind of whitehead on a baby's face is acne, and that's simply not true. The small bumps that can be present at birth are called milia, and are unrelated to acne. Also misdiagnosed are some rashes, so it's worth getting a confirmed diagnosis at a well check up.

The best thing to do for the infantile acne is to keep the area clean and dry, and to avoid harsh soaps. It will clear up on its own in a couple of weeks.

  • I always made sure to wipe my baby's faces with wet washcloths after each feeding and after each time they spit up. Not sure if it helped or not, but it always cleared up quickly.

  • Leave it alone. It is accquired by pregnancy. The baby has some of mom's hormones still in him which can cause the acne. Over time it runs it's course as the hormones run out of his system. Until then, using a mild soap during bathing, and good, gentle laundry detergent should help.

  • Just leave it be. Keep the baby's face clean with a warm, wet washcloth, and it will be fine.

  • You don't. It will go away on it's own.

  • Leave it alone, don't over wash the face.

  • only wipe the face with a wet washcloth and never use soap (i still don't use soap on my daughter's face and she is 26 months old). you can express breast milk and apply that to baby's face. works great! you can also use it for adult acne.
