What is a good starter exercise?

I have gotten out of shape but have heart palpitations and have to slowly work my way up on exercise so I don't get over-exerted. What are some good "beginner" exercises to get me started?

  • My mother in law has heart palpitations also. She walks everyday. She walks about 2miles, at a moderate pace.

  • Sit in a firm chair, feet flat on floor, start arm lifting. Put arms straight out in front and lift arms upward, stretching above head level, and looking upward also, Good for blood flow, and a tone-up.

Another is knees lifting to chest, repeating for about 15 or so each leg. I use opposite knee to elbows. , and then alternate each knee lift.
