  • I heard about this on the radio on my way home from work. What an idiot! I don't think the media should waste any time on him at all. They were saying on the radio that people in Afghanistan heard about him and were throwing rocks at a US convoy in protest! Just what our men and women over there need--one more lunatic giving us all a bad name!

  • From what I understand, the church has a web site. Once stuff like this hits the web, there is no stopping it. I think that if the news hadn't gone after it because it so "Westboro Baptist Church" type stupidity, no one would have ever known. As it is, they gave him a world audience. Now, they have to act or look stupid. They have no way out but to burn or look like idiots. (well, like bigger idiots anyway) I sure hope they choose looking stupid. I can forgive "egg on the face" more than a really stupid act that you had a choice to not do.

  • Because General Petraeus has. Sure, he has a right to burn anything he wants. But he'd darned well better never claim to support the troops, because it's VERY obvious he does not.

Perhaps he'll join the Westboro Baptists in protesting at soldiers' funerals.

  • I've been wondering this myself... If we stop talking about nutbags like this, they and their horrid little groups of miserable people don't get any power... If they don't get the attention and don't get any publicity, guess what, they quit doing shit like this!

  • I agree, let's stop giving them the media power they seem to crave.

  • I have been to their site and felt like I wanted to vomit.... there is a sign one was holding and it said God hates lukewarm churches and I thought oh the irony. Lukewarm churches lack love....

  • Because they love to get that one and only BIG story. Personally, I agree with you.

To a certain degree, you're right, Sabrina. There have been times I've had to decide that the best thing to do is NOT give something any oxygen. I hadn't actually heard anything about this until Gen. Petraeus said something this morning.

  • He was just interviewed on the ABC nightly news- The announcer asked him WWJD- "Burn the books" was his response. Clearly, this man is mentally touched. Hate is so insidious.
