Do you feel that high school students should be able to wear flip flops to school?

Today was the first day of school for us and our new principle is considering enforcing a dress code policy that the students need to wear shoes with some type of back on them, therefore, no more flip flops. This is my second year working in the high school and kids have been wearing flip flops all along.

  • I think it's a safety issue. Plus I personally don't want to see everyone's funky feet. Gross!

  • I dont see a problem with it. It gets hot here and its better than wearing shoes with socks and getting fungus on your feet!

  • They are allowed in some school districts. But they definitely are a sefety hazard.

  • i think they should not be able to wear flip flops to school. any school i have ever attended or taught at made you wear shoes with backs on them and i agree.... it's easy to step on the back of someone's flip flop in a crowded hall or stairway and make them fall

  • I guess I can see where it could he a problem. I love my flip flops, though!

  • Flip flops weren't allowed in my schools. From Kindergarten until I graduated. I would have loved to wear them seeing as I wear them all the time but I totally understand the safety concerns and why they are banned.

Answer by Tab2 at 7:59 PM on Sep. 7, 2010

  • No they shouldn't. Safety alone is enough reason why....they could get cut, get or spread fungus, ick. I've never heard of a school allowing them here in WNY.
