Where do we draw the line? Do you agree we have become a nation that must censor ourselves so as not to alienate non-violent Muslims..?

even though in the process we end up giving the violent ones precisely what they want —

If military brass are willing to start weighing rights against American blood spilled, where’s the line?

From “Everybody Draw Mohamed” to 'South Park's Mohamed character to a church burning the Koran.

Wouldn't repealing “don’t ask, don’t tell,” and the media coverage play poorly in Iraq and Afghanistan? Might they revolt/protest against our troops for opening the doors to a practice they don't believe in? Where do we draw the line in efforts to cater to their sensitivity?

  • Pacifism is not always the answer.

It doesn't matter your outlook. It's not always the answer.

The people who've had to protect this nation over the years haven't always had that luxury, so that you can have it.

  • Good grief. No one has made an effort to censor themselves about any other religion ~ and I haven't seen a question answered lately that doesn't make a huge fuss about violent Christians (whether it is an excuse or a comparison to violent Islam).

I'm sorry, but if Christians have to listen to people berate them about ancient history or the oddball (and they are odd as well as rare) nutjobs that blow up an abortion clinic, than Islam should have to listen to rants about the violent nutjobs in it's ranks.

Half the country is ranting at that preacher in FL and his little Quran bbq he has planned ~ that same half is berating everyone who says they don't want a mosque near ground zero.

Islam is no more special or deserving than any other religion and there should be NO consideration of Islamic viewpoint as far as OUR laws and OUR military. We should not tolerate a single attack ~ and retaliate with a much bigger boom.

  • Sister, I would agree with you IF 'stop dabbling in the affairs of others' means not sending them money, IF bringing our troops home means reserving (and making use of) the right to lob one or more of those glow in the dark bombs we have sitting around collecting dust at anyone who asks for it, and IF we ship illegals home AND bring back our manufacturing jobs that have been lost to other countries. Lotsa IFs there ~ just looking for clarification.

Perhaps the biggest IF would be the answer to how you feel about the actual question. Are we really supposed to give up our entire lifestyle and our freedom of speech just to avoid making some nutcase here or abroad angry ~ or can we tell them our COTUS is more important than their god and that they should plan to learn to live with that? That is what religion here in the US gets told so it should be fair to tell the same to everyone.

  • Why must we worry about how many attacks from extremists (who want us all dead to begin with) this protest or that action will bring? They will attack for any reason that they can come up with, and as long as WE continue to censor ourselves so that we don't do anything to offend ANY of them, that is taking away OUR freedom and liberty, as well as giving THEM way more power over us than they should have. When there is any kind of issue with Christianity, such as the 10 commandments in courthouses, or nativity scenes on city property, we don't worry about how the Episcopalians or the Baptists are going to react, do we? We don't go on red alert watching out for extremist Lutherans and Methodists who are out for blood. So why are we falling all over ourselves to not offend these fools?

  • Sorry, didn't mean to answer with another question, but I really don't get this! We are getting to be too PC, too willing to not offend ANYONE at all for any reason, so that THAT will be what eventually causes trouble for us.

  • The Media made a mountain out of a molehill. IMO, the media gave this church of 30+ the attention with their blogs, newsclips, and any storyline attention. If the media and blogosphere would not have fed the hype and would have left this small church alone~ the rest of the world would not have even know about someone vocalizing and demonstrating within their rights. I am on the fence about Patraeus... I think there is a possibility he instructed to speak about this. If he comment's on one Freedom of Expression, he better be prepared to comment on them all. Of course, if the Media and the WH want to make this a big deal, they will and vice versa~ (as we have seen)... Wag the dog? Possibly...

  • Fix our economy, put our people back to work, protect our health and welfare first- the rest will just have to wait until this ship is back on course!!!

    ***

I expect that will be happening sometime after 2013 rolls around? Because the USS America isn't going to get back on course until Obama is no longer the captain!!
