Are Republicans trying to cold call Democrats to try to change their minds?

I just got off the phone with the Republican party headquarters in my state capitol. The guy was asking if he could count on my vote for Govenor. He seemed surprised that I told him I was a Democrat and don't vote Republican at all. WTH? He called me by name so wasn't he aware of how I vote?
