At what age did (or will) you explain "sex" to your child...

I believe it should be an ongoing conversation and ongoing lesson, I know lots of people do... But regardless of whether or not you have an ongoing lesson or you have "the talk" you eventually have to explain sex...

So at what age did or will you explain the physical aspects of sex to your child?

  • hopefully

My son is 9, 10 in November, and we will start talking about puberty and his body then, but I think actual intercourse talk will wait another year or two

  • I ask because I answered a question earlier which said she was shocked when her 6yo heard about sex at school... My kids are 3 & 4 and I have already gone over sex, what it is, how it works and why... I've gone over both hetero and homosexual sex with them, because I don't know what they are... I was honestly surprised to see someone who hadn't had this talk with their kid before they started school...

  • Once my daughter hits puberty or when they start asking questions. Whichever comes first. I believe in being honest with my children, but at the same time at 3 and 2 if they don't ask I'm not telling.
