Do you know what Ic an do to decrease my chances of getting alzheimers?

My great-grandmother had, and now my grondmother has. I'm starting to get worried. What can I do to decrease my chances of getting it?

  • My grandmother has it. She doesn't know who I am. Keeping your brain active, like doing crossword puzzles or taking a class online/school will help. Also staying busy with the community helps, like volunteer programs, or church related activities, stuff like that. Pets are wonder for keeping people aware of the here and now.

  • My grandmother has alzheimers and my mother is worried about the same thing

    Her Dr told her FISH oil supplements support brain growth and development...my mother started right away...you can get them at a heath food store. ;)

    Its a sad sad disease =(

  • Make sure you keep your body active and stimulate your mind...through reading and painting etc. Kepp your mind active and learning more and more..especially when older is suppose to help prevent this.

  • Puzzles and games are really supposed to make a big difference. Chess, crosswords, wordsearches, Scrabble--something to exercise your mind.
