Babies Encyclopedia: How long can breast milk be stored for in the freezer?

  • Frozen breastmilk can be stored three to six months, depending on the temperature of the freezer and frequency of freezer door openings. Deep freezers, or chest freezers afford the longest freezing time because of they usually have lower and more consistent temperatures. Do not store breastmilk on a freezer or refrigerator door, since that's where the widest temperature variations occur

  • Storage Time in Different Freezer Compartments:

    Freezer contained within a refrigerator : Up to 2 weeks
    Bottom, top mount, side-by-side or stand alone freezer : 3 to 4 months
    Deep Freeze with a constant 0 degrees F temperature : 6 to 12 months

  • I was taught six days in the fridge, six hours at room temp, six months in the freezer, by my lactation consultant.

  • According to most guidelines:
    In a freezer compartment up to 2 weeks, in a freezer, up to 3-4 months, in deep freezer up to 6-12 months. In a fridge up to 2-8 days depending on the temperature setting. At room temperature: up to 4-8 hours pending on the temperature of the room. (The warmer it is, the less likely it will keep).

    Once thawed must be used within 24 hours can can't be refrozen.

  • I always thought it was about 2 months in the freezer, and two weeks in the fridge.

  • I was told Up to a year in a deep freezer and 3 to 6 months in a frige freezer. 2 weeks in the refridgerater nd 4 hours in room temputure
