Does a new 3 year old wear a toddler or kid costume?

DD will turn 3 2 weeks before Halloween. She's about 30lbs. In the toddler costume sections, I see sizes specified like 18 or 24 months. Does that mean I should look in the kid section instead of toddler? She wears 3T tops and 2T bottoms. I doubt she'll significantly grow by next month.

  • 18-24 months wouldn't fit her. She'll most likely be in the kids section of costumes.

  • Depends on their size. I don't really go by age. My daughter is 3 and she can wear size 3 tops but still wears size 2 pants.

  • I would forget about the size aspect and just get something that she likes and looks good to wear.

  • I'd go wherever fits her. Just try things on until you find something that fits and stays there. My daughter is 4-1/2 and 39 pounds and we bought her a size 4-6 witches costume for this year.

  • My dd wore a girls' size x-small costume last year right after she turned 3. Costumes run a little small, but you can go someplace like Party City and try on costumes to get an idea of fit. Even if you don't end up getting a costume there, you'll know what size to look for elsewhere.
