  • As far as I'm concerned as a mother, ANY amount of blood in my baby's diaper is TOO much blood. They need to have at least the doctor called immediately, if not taken to the ER.

  • I agree with dragon lady. Anytime you see blood in a diaper you should take the baby to the dr.

  • The only blood my daughter ever had was when she was a newborn. It wasn't a lot just a very small amount and pink not a bright red. Come to find out it's pretty common in girls to have blood, it's from the mothers hormones.

  • If you see any blood in your baby's diaper you need to call your baby's doctor. They will ask if it is from the urine or the stool. What color is it? Sometimes there will be blood in a mother's milk from cracked nipples or trauma from using a breast pump and the baby will have blood in the stool from that. It is safe for the baby to have milk with blood in it and it will causes changes in the stools.

  • There should be no blood in there. If here is, go to the doctor.

  • You need to call the dr. My ped said call no matter what. That being son had this happen. The blood though was on the outside of the poop not inside. This indicated he had scratch like marks, which mean he strained too much and caused little cuts inside his rectum.

  • Blood in the diaper can be caused by any number of things, from a torn rectum to something far more serious. First be sure it's blood and not something like beets (that tend to turn bowel movements a reddish tint). After that call your doctor immediately. Blood is never a good thing and your doctor is going to want you to bring your baby in to be examined. If your doctors office is closed and you can not contact your doctor through the emergency line of their office, then take the baby into the hospital. Regardless of how much blood there is in the diaper.. call your doctor.
