How long do you keep your homemade muffins before tossing what wasn't eaten?

I make muffins usually on a Sunday afternoon or evening and wrap them individually in plastic wrap for everyone to eat as they want to during the week.
If any are left by Saturday, I toss those out.
My dh and I are having a disagreement over it because he won't eat them after they are two days old. And I think thats stupid, lol.
How long do you think they are good for?

  • I'd think they'd be good for up to one week. If you see mold obviously they're done!! Good Luck! 2 Days they're like new/fresh to me!

  • After a few days.

  • I wouldn't eat them after a few days either, unless they were tossed in the freezer after the few days. I would in no way eat home made muffins 6 days later....

  • It depends on if you are keeping them in the fridge or just out on the counter. I coudlnt' imagine homemade muffins lasting 6 days if they were just left out on the counter. If they are in the fridge, I'd eat them til I saw mold. But I like to tempt fate that way, and I absolutely HATE throwing away food.

  • They just don't last that long in this house. On the rare occasion there's still any left after 3-4 days, that's when they go - unless I put them in the freezer.

  • If there were any left I'd put them in the freezer after just a couple days but that wouldn't happen very often they are usually gone

  • I make and eat them on the first day - any that are left on the second day are frozen individually so they can be taken out and eaten at any time

  • I do the same as caseyandkids, we eat them fresh the day I make them, then I wrap & freeze whatever's left to be eaten whenever. If you rewarm them in the microwave, they're as good as the day I made them.

Answer by rkoloms at 9:18 PM on Sep. 10, 2010
