  • At first, every two hours....night and day. Every hour and a half during growth spurts. Then it gradually got less often, but feedings lasted longer.

  • I agree with kword. Every two hours for newborn, every hour during growth spurts. Now my daughter is 6 months old and she eats every 4 hours or so for about 15min

  • Every 2-3 hours 24/7 for the first 2 months, then at night she gradually started sleeping longer. Now it's every 3-4 hours while she is awake with 1-2 night feedings. Mostly 1. She's 8 months.

  • my first two ate every 1 1/2 hours in the beginning.
my next two were twins, and they sucked and ate from 4 pm to 11 pm and then slept a lot during the day, and ate probably every three hours through the night.
my #5 slept 5 hours through the night from the beginning. she is only just now eating about every 3 hours regularly throughout the day and she is 3 months old.

  • I have a 2 month old & when she was brand new, it was every 2 hours. Now, it's every 2-3 hours; depending on how long she sleeps. When she is going through a growth spurt, she wants to eat every 1 1/2 hours.

  • Keep in mind that every mom and baby is different. Different women have different "storage capacities" and respond differently to stimulation. The average is for baby to nurse 8-12 times in 24 hrs. Some babies need to nurse 14 times in 24 hrs to keep up mom's supply and get enough milk., while her best friend only needs to nurse 5 times in 24 hrs with a baby if the same age and size.
Your baby will tell you exactly how often they need to nurse from you, and don't worry if it is different from everyone else you talk to!
