How soon can I find out the sex of my baby? :)

I still want it to be closer to correct so I'll wait, but I'm curious to when it's most accurate..

  • They say you can around 14 weeks or so..but it's best to wait till 19/20 weeks so that the body parts are fully developed.

  • I think waiting until 20 weeks would enable them to getter a more accurate assessment but that also depends on whether or not baby wants to cooperate :) Congratulations on the new addition to your family

  • They wouldn't tell me until after 20 weeks. Like Sparklinghope said, the parts are fully developed around then. They told me they could give me a good guess at 16 weeks, but they wanted to wait because there was a chance that the parts weren't completely developed. She it could look like a girl and actually be a boy. I guess they've had enough upset pregnant women on their hands who have said "but you said it I bought nothing but gender specific things" that they just wouldn't even give a guess anymore.

  • My OB told me as soon as 16 weeks, but I got mine at 18 weeks. I would say anywhere from 18-20 weeks is best, so you can be sure that the sex organs are developed enough for the dr. to make an accurate decision.

  • As soon as 14 weeks is what I was told. Waiting until 18-20 is best though for accuracy.
