2 Bumps

Do you carve your pumpkins or keep them in tact? Paint designs on them?

I love carving them. However, they don't stay very long if you do that, And I always think about pie when I see a pumpkin. I think it's a natural reaction.

  • I gut them and carve them. I take the seeds and wince them. Then put them in a bowl with a small amount of oil and seasoning salt. Mix them arounduntil they are coated. Back them in a preheated 350 oven until I can smell them. That's my favorite part of fall.

  • Well we buy several pumpkins....usually two big ones to carve, and three little ones, one for each of the kiddos (so we will get 4 this year, for the new baby too :o) ) I don't paint on them, because, well I am not that good at painting faces! lol

  • My husband and I carve designs on them after we gut the pumpkins. Than we roast the seeds with oil and some cayn pepper.

  • We do both. We carve them during the last week. I love pumpkin pie--from a can...LOL I do roast the pumpkin seeds, but I cannot imagine trying to cook that mess down to make pie!

  • We use our Mr. Potato Head pieces and make funny faces on them. I love to carve, but it is just too time consuming

  • I'll buy a few pie pumpkins from a local farm if we don't grow them in a given year and I'll also buy a carving pumpkin from the store. One year we bought a super bumpy pumpkin and carved a skull into it.
