Anyone else agrees with me that this statement "they are crazy, they are bipolar" is rude and offensive?

  • i would have to agree as for i am bipolar and i am not crazy not one bit... i have a temper at times but thats what meds are for. but if you are saying it to hurt someone then yes it is very offensive and very rude it's like using the word retard it's not nice and you wouldn't want it used toward you...

  • Well, I've never heard that statement used... So I would need context before I could make a choice on if I find it offensive. I'm BiPolar and I've made similar statements about others from time to time... So, I need more context...

  • People with bi-polar are not crazy. There is a big difference,. If that is what you are saying I agree.

  • I'm with Sabrina. It all depends on the context. Some bipolar people are really crazy (not necessarily crazy like they need to be locked up), and some seem perfectly normal until a manic or depressive episode happens. The same (about being crazy) can apply to a "normal" person, too, though.

  • I personally see this as not only rude and offensive, but judgemental. No one has the right to judge anyone!
