What's the furthest you've ever gone on a trip with your children and how did you travel?

Furthest we've ever gone was from Nova Scotia to PEI. My oldest daughter and I took them. We drove onto the ferry and stayed overnight outside Charlottetown and then drove across the island to the Confederation Bridge which takes you to New Brunswick. And then we drove home. My kids were 12 and 11.

  • we took our 4 mnth old to the Tulsa Zoo (horrible - not many animals!). We drove from Quapaw, OK to Tulsa, OK (about 100 miles each way). We stopped at the Mickey D's over the highway, which (even tho she cant enjoy the food), she loved the ladies that fawned over her and gave her a free toy!

  • Furthest we've gone was to Alaska to visit family. Which, considering we live in Oregon, really isn't that far. But the kids were 2 and 11mo at the time, so 3-1/2 hours felt like a looooong flight!

  • This summer we drove from Chicago to Portland, OR (with a weekend stopover in northeast Missouri). The planned route was about 2400 miles. That's with 5 kids in a pick-up truck. They are 10, 8 1/2, 7 1/2, 4 and the baby was 3-4 weeks old at the time. It takes about 7-8 hours to get from Chicago to my in-laws' house in Missouri. Then after 3 days there we drove through Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon and to our new house which is actually over the river in Washington. It took us 5 days. 2 nights we stayed in motels, 1 night we camped and 2 nights we slept in the truck because we ran out of money. :(
    It was quite the adventure.

  • My kids are 14, 6 and 4 and we went from Florida to Taiwan. 3 hour flight to Atlanta, 14 hour flight to Japan, and then 3 hour flight to Taiwan, followed by a two hour bus ride to get to the city we were staying in. All total, 26 hours worth of traveling, each way.
