Can you suggest some books on Buddhism?

I love reading up on religion and my newest interest on my spiritual quest has been Buddhism. Particularly on the teachings of Kwan Yin. I am still a beginner so some of these books I have picked up can get confusing. I do have Buddhism for Dummies but we all know it isn't the best place to gain knowledge.

  • I've studied Buddhism, but unfortunately all the books I've read have been about all Dharmic faiths, not Buddhism specifically. Where's Freela? =) She'd likely have good suggestions.

  • For online resources, Buddhanet is useful, here

For books, I liked The Heart of the Buddha's Teachingby Thich Nhat Hanh

  • I have enjoyed reading Thich Nhat Hahn, Lama Surya Das, and Pema Chodron. That might be a good place to start.
