  • I don't think I've ever cleaned my broom other than occasionally pulling off the hair and dust that get stuck on it. Is that bad?

  • I've pretty much ditched my broom - except for the garage and porch. I use a microfiber mop - try it; the floor feels great afterward. My daughters (ages 7 and 10) also help with that - between weekly cleanings, I dampen the mop a little and have them walk around with it, especially the corners.

  • I rinse the broom out under running water in the sink. And the same with the dust pan/bin.

  • I soak them in hot soapy water and then rinse it with hot water.

  • I just throw it away and buy a new one. About every other month. I have a really nice dustpan that has the long handle.... like restaurants and hotels use. I hose it off outside as needed.
