Is Obama for or against off-shore drilling?

I have heard he is for off-shore drilling then I hear him making statements about "looking" into it? Which one is it for or against? I believe this is a very crucial solution to becoming independent against the dependency for foreign oil...any comments?

  • He won't make a clear stand. I guess you could compare it to voting "PRESENT"

  • he voted present just over 100 times out of FOUR THOUSAND VOTES.

but to answer op's question, he is for offshore drilling as long as certain criteria is met.

  • You can read about his position on energy and oil at http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/factsheet_energy_speech_080308.pdf. I think the bottom line he is willing to consider the option and do it if it makes sense... there is alot to consider.

  • Originally, he said he opposed it. When McCain came out with a plan to get us off of foreign oil, he changed his mind and said he would support it as long as it was part of a long term plan to get us off of foreign oil.

  • So, I guess you could say he was against it before he was willing to "look" at it.. lol..
