At what age would you let your kids to Trick Or Treating by themselves....

Assuming you had a safe neighborhood.
What about older siblings? Do you make them go with?

  • Meh... I would say about 10 or 11... Maybe sooner depending on the child... Around here it's not uncommon to see 5 & 6 year olds out alone... There is just NO Crime here, and there are so many people watching it would be stupid to even attempt something... But I think for my kids around 10 is a good idea... Plus, when my oldest is 10 my youngest will be around 5 or 6, so they can all go together...

The question should be when are you willing to give up going with them... I think I'll cry the first year I am no longer needed - I LOVE TOT!

  • I think my brother was about 11 or 12 when he'd go with his friends (I had already stopped going by 12 and would stay home to pass out candy).
My oldest is 10 and if she wanted to go in a pack with her friends around our neighborhood I wouldn't have a problem with it. It's a small neighborhood and it's quiet.
If she doesn't want to go with us she can stay home and pass out candy. I'm sure she'll want to go out with her friends, though.
